The National Hurricane Center warns of the possible formation of Storm Debby ( Invest 97L) the first Major Storm in the 2024 hurricane season with a 70% chance that the system will develop into a tropical depression, strengthening and making landfall this weekend.

 

While the storm is not expected to become a major hurricane, warnings are in place for the possibility of heavy rainfall and disorganized thunderstorms that could disrupt services in Florida and cause significant damage due to flooding.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 54 of Florida’s 67 counties: lachua, Baker, Bay, Bradford, Calhoun, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Escambia, Flagler, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Monroe, Nassau, Okaloosa, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, Sumter, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Volusia, Wakulla, Walton y Washington.

So all residents are advised to be prepared and informed about the progress of this system, make a storm preparedness plan and get your home ready for a hurricane, the threat of significant flooding and extreme weather conditions highlights the importance of this recommendation.
